As London’s sky line has been transformed in the last decade, the recent addition of the Leadenhall building has now expressed an excitement of the new. Introduction: High-Tech architecture is an approach that shares the values of key modernist ideas which have been adapted and mastered by five British Architects Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners, Foster + Partners, and their practices on the global stage. They express a clear progressive and optimistic vision of the future through their architecture which has only been challenged but has resulted in an ambitious innovative buildings. Leadenhall is an ambitious structure, large in scale having the highest office space in the London but ironically avoids dominating the skyline in comparison with the new edition of 20 Fenchurch Street nicknamed the walkie talkie which bulges over the site it sits on. • Only used commercial and retail space, this causes a huge extra demand in London’s transport infrastructure during commuting hours as workers from the outside the city centre commute into the heart of London. • Key problem to using steel instead of reinforced concrete is that if a large scale fire was to break out then the steel would warp potentially causing the structure of building to fail. • 80% of the buildings construction was produced off site this reduces the environmental impact on of the small scale site during construction. Much of manufacturing of the building was carried out in Northern Ireland and Wolverhampton which distributes economic wealth from the economic hub of London to other parts of the United Kingdom. • The precise manufacturing processes reduces the environmental impact greatly compared to onsite construction process as well as reducing the time of installation. • Office towers are more than often a monotonous blot on the landscape, Leadenhall offer more of a dynamic alternative through the elegance of …show more content…
