ASSESS LAW ENFORCEMENT PROGRAMS Law enforcement program leaders assess the effectiveness of any criminal justice programs on the basis of the four criteria given below: Law Enforcement Programs need to have an acceptable description of the objectives and goals of the programs: Goals are the end results of the programs pursued. The end results need to be clearly stated and realistic. The objectives of any program must be both achievable and measurable. There must be a strong link between the objectives of the program and the program activities. WHO SHOULD DECIDE WHAT PROGRAMS ARE ELIMINATED The American Justice System has three essential components: law enforcement, courts and corrections. The enforcement or cancellation of programs must be under the purview of the law enforcement of the criminal justice system. The individuals in the law enforcement division hold the responsibility of taking care of the law, investigating any crimes that take place and lastly in apprehending all those individuals who have committed the crime. The important components of the law enforcement are individuals like the patrol officers, deputies and the sheriffs, various federal agents, park rangers, games and park rangers and all those individuals whose job is to make the very first contact with the criminals of the area. Their task deals with upholding of the law, making investigations of the crimes that take place and bringing in the culprits to book. The reason behind this is that it is the chief of the police who has to foresee the implementation of the criminal justice programs is bound and answerable to both the authority above him and to the community of the area. He has to assess and examine which programs have been the most useful one and which have not worked for the general public.
