Management System Leadership and advocacy are major components to the management system of the comprehensive school-counseling program. Counselors should understand that their desire to be school-counselors should come from their passion for wanting to help and work with students, not because of the perks of the job. “Advocating for the academic success of every student is a key role of a school counselor and places them as leaders in promoting school reform p.24” (ASCA National Model (2003) as cited by Brown and Trusty, 2005, p.265).
