Several factors go into being an exceptional leader. To be influential, it’s essential to have enthusiasm, compassion, and exceptional communication skills. It takes a dynamic individual to fulfill the role of a leader. When it comes to leadership qualities I feel my strengths are compassion, enthusiasm, and listening. However, my strengths can also be weaknesses. My enthusiasm can overcommit me at times. In addition to developing my positive attributes, I am mindful of the areas I need to improve.
One leadership quality I portray is enthusiasm. I am enthusiastic because I am eager to be involved and try new experiences. I am an active participate in student council, student ambassadors, youth and service groups, my school newspaper, and several different sports. I often find myself naturally taking on a leadership within these organizations.
Communication is another skill I feel strong leaders must obtain. I believe I can communicate ideas effectively to different audiences. In addition, I have strong listening skills that allow me to promote collaboration. I am able to adjust my communication to be effective. This center is home to individuals with physical, and intellectual limitations. I have had the opportunity of encouraging high school students through Yappers to volunteer for this organization. Here, not only did I learn new ways to communicate, whether it be verbal or gestural, I also learned that assisting and leading these individuals takes qualities such as passion and patience. Patience is still one of my weaker qualities, however having this job is developing that skill. When leading, you must have patience to listen, yet facilitate people to achieve
