I believe that the qualities of a leader include integrity, doing what's right even if no one is looking, and showing independence for standing up for things that are right although not always popular. Leaders are also focused and passionate on their commitments, following through with their word and continuing what they started. Confidence is an important trait in leaders, which helps to empower others and aspire them to get involved and follow their aspirations. Leadership takes on a lot of different forms. I display the qualities of a leader through my position as President of the American Legion Junior Auxiliary. The concept of veterans used to be of old men telling stories about the war, but in actuality, veterans are all around, varying in age, gender, and appearance. Women in leadership positions are still repressed by the control male dominance, although improvement has been made to level the field. I aspire to let other girls know that we can be leaders within our communities, which can help prepare us for a lifetime of opportunities. Beginning in kindergarten, I have been a Girl Scout for over ten years, and although I am the only member left from my troop, I believe in following through and finishing what I have started. I am now a Juliette, an independent Girl Scout, who does everything a troop member would do, but is not affiliated with a troop. As a Girl Scout Ambassador, I am currently working on my Gold Award, which is the highest achievement a Girl Scout can be awarded. I plan to incorporate my passion and dedication towards helping others and the community to encourage young girls to pursue their aspirations and empower them to become leaders
