Introduction
When talking about leadership it is a complex subject for people in today’s world in both Christian and non-Christian areas. However, in the book Being Leaders: The Nature of Authentic Christian Leadership, the author Aubrey Malphurs (2003) gives the reader an understanding of what it means to be an effective leader. In addition, Malphurs (2003) he provides a set of skills so that any leader could go in maturation in the leadership role. There are audits in this book that gives an awareness to leaders that are in different areas of leadership. Through these assessments, it will give the leader clarity on how to continue to cultivate your leadership skills. In addition, these audits pinpoint certain areas and bring …show more content…

Also, this will help them to develop competence so that they could become a versatile leader. Consequently, when a leader does not know their personal skill set, they could potentially hinder their ability to enhance the people’s lives that they are leading. Moreover, for every great leader, they know what set of tools that they possess. According to Malphurs (2003) “They are the special tools a leader brings to the leadership task, the tools he or she carries to adjust and fine-tune the leadership engine, the hammer and saw the leader uses to construct the ministry house” (p. 74). It is imperative for the leader to have the knowledge on how to bring out greatness in the people that they are leading. Malphurs (2003) states, “While character development refers to the leader’s soul work (being), knowledge is the leader’s headword. The leader’s knowledge is the relevant information that the leader applies to his or her leadership situation” (p. 82). This knowledge will push you and the people you are leading to another dimension. In addition, Malphurs (2003) points out other tools that are accessible to every great leader.
