An admirable leader or commander is a person that people will want to look up to, someone who thinks of their people before themselves, someone who makes the tough decisions when no one else can. It is true that every leader is different in the way that they lead, there tend to many common aspects in all leaders. The story Beowulf contains many different leaders that people choose to follow. Throughout all the likable traits of a leader these men/women contain, a ton of amazing qualities that will always shine brighter than all of the other ones, these being generosity, loyalty, and bravery. Even the most evilest leaders are the greatest leaders in their community specifically. Just like the good leaders, the evil ones are well-respected, someone who thinks of their people before themselves, someone who makes the tough decisions when no one else can. When Hrothgar is going through hard times with defeating Grendel for example "Twelve winters of grief for Hrothgar, king/ Of the Danes, sorrow heaped at his door/ By hell-forged hands, His misery leaped/ The seas, was told and sung in all/ Men's ears". Beowulf being the leader and friend he is for himself and Hrothgar, Beowulf goes into battle with no weapons only hand to try and defeat Grendel.
