Leadership Interview Mrs. Smith is a very valued, and influential visual arts teacher, and mentor at Widdifeild Secondary School. She is a person that has truly earned a lot respect in the arts community. She makes it refreshingly clear that she cares about her students, and the genuine, meaningful work they put out into the world. Leadership is something that Mrs. Smith, doesn’t take lightly, she makes a point to always try her best to make students feel confident in their work, if that’s shining a light on students’ strengths, validating successes, or giving specific, useful feedback. Smith, doesn’t take lightly, she makes a point to always try her best to make students feel confident in their work, if that’s shining a light on students’ strengths, validating successes, or giving specific, useful feedback. She believes that in order to enables other to be successful, one on must know when to push a student, and how far, to know a student’s abilities, and to be committed and engaged, to let students know you care. Although Mrs. Smith is a very influential person, there is someone that she looks up to when it comes to leadership, this person is Lisa Okane. Mrs. Okane helped her to remember that everyone has a story, and that there is a larger purpose to teaching. She helped Smith realize that teaching is more than a curriculum. According to Smith, Mrs. Okane is a woman with unwavering morals and values, that leads by example, and had the perfect balance between empathy and ambition; all things that Smith would like to model in her teaching own style. It is important to be a part of a trusting environment and to have trusting relationships within an organization. Mrs. Smith is a person that strongly believes that connecting with students is the key to keeping a trusting environment, as well as in the importance of being willing to change
