Being a part of the National Honor Society would be a privilege. I have been chosen as a candidate due to my academic excellence, but I understand it takes more than just a good GPA. The service opportunities that I will have as a part of NHS is what I look forward to the most.
Leadership is the ability to guide or influence others with an objective of achieving a desired outcome. It involves influencing beliefs, opinions, values, perceptions, or behaviors of an individual or a group, and it is an amalgamation of inherent personality traits, learned skills, and it is a response to situational stimuli. I believe that, at any particular moment, where two or more individuals are interacting, one of them will emerge as the leader the other(s). To me, this means leadership role is fluid, and it changes as situational stimuli changes. For instance, during interpersonal interaction involving two individual, the leadership role has potential to shift from one individual to the other, as the situational stimuli changes.
I can apply this to my life by taking on those leadership positions and making myself and the people looking up to me better workers and people. By being in a leadership position, I can help the organization grow and succeed more than when it started by
Leadership Thought Prior to 1900 The earliest study of leadership thought would be the “Great Man Theory. This theory conceptualized leaders as a single “Great Man” who knew everything and influenced others to follow him. In leadership discourse, the Great Man theory—an assertion that certain individuals, certain men, are gifts from God placed on earth to provide the lightening needed to uplift human existence—is associated mainly with Thomas Carlyle (Spector, 2015, p.250). The focal-point of this theory is that leaders’ skills are inherent and set that them apart from those around them and that these traits enable them to assume roles of power and authority.
Personal Leadership Philosophy According to me, Leadership is where a person can motivate and influence people around him to accomplish a vision without any coercion. When a person is able to move and evolve people’s life towards a transformational change with their support, he is an effective leader. Someone who can connect people to see his vision and make them work towards his mission with the core values he laid down is a sign of a great leader. A great leader should be a visionary leader and able to motivate his employees / followers to do tasks willingly rather than using his power influence as a boss.
My basic leadership philosophy is providing the highest quality service and performance possible to everyone that I am encounter. It is a set of principles for me to guiding and controlling the performance of an organization. It is also a foundation for me to achieve my leadership goal and have strategies to accomplish my mission and values. At first, I believe that a success leadership must shape the vision and know how to turning it into reality. I believe in a strong leader that know all about control and give clear expectations to their followers.
Leadership has several different definitions depending on the person. Some may think to be a leader you need to be confident, feared, and willing to do anything to accomplish your goals. However, some may describe leaders as caring, comforting, and as someone who always puts others' needs above their own. Not one definition of a leader is the universal correct definition. Leadership is defined however a person believes it should be.
For this week’s video on 21 irrefutable Laws of Leadership, three laws that I feel come naturally for me are influence, respect, and process. Influence is the ability to people to accomplish something together. The law of respect is described as when people follow those they respect. The process is taking day by day, showing that you’re in it for the long haul. A way I have used these skills would be best explained with my experiences during my second deployment.

There are many different views and perceptions on leadership and what it exactly means. This is because there are many different types of leaders and many different views on them. Leadership is can mean different things to different people. To me, leadership is more than having a title and subordinates. Leadership is having the courage to make the right choices, engage others in a vision, and empower your subordinates with a shared purpose and to achieve positive impacts. Leadership can also be relational which means it takes teamwork, requires you to be able to work with others in various backgrounds and that may have difference perspectives. Leadership also requires continuous learning, discerned decision making, and savvy communication skills.
From my point of view , Leadership has more to it than I can possibly imagine. I define leadership as the art of enabling a group of people get to a specific destination. As a leader your main focus was to enable your followers lead theselves. As i think deeper i realise a person cannot choose to be a leader. I think a lot of the time people take on leadership positions without knowing.
LEADERSHIP LESSONS FROM SPORTS What is Leadership? Leadership is defined as the ability to influence a group towards the achievement of a vision or set of goals. The source of this influence may be formal, as happens by organizational hierarchy. However, this does not imply that every manager is a leader or only managers are leaders. The ability to influence and motivate an individual may arise in any non-formal structure as well.
Introduction Leadership is the art of empowering people around you to achieve a goal. As a leader I want to help others become leaders themselves. I firmly believe that by leading based on my values this will be accomplished. I have had many leadership influences throughout my career. Some of them showed me the way I wanted to someday lead and others showed me exactly how not to.
Nice discussion post this week! You start off with a great definition of what leadership is. To me, it is hard to define what leadership is, especially in one sentence, but I agree with you that leadership is the action of leading others or an organization. I feel like it is when someone steps up and goes into the unknown as well. It is also important to mention that it is never just one single person.
