It was 1976 and the war had just ended people were still picking up the pieces from the war. We meet Ahn mother on a train in Saigon selling illegally so she can support her younger siblings while her brother are in communist re-education camps. Anh father meets and save his mother which began their relationship Anh father was always a leader in the beginning for his younger brothers and sisters and now for his wife and children. With the country in peril and living poverty Anh father decided it would give him and his family a better life if they left Vietnam he also rescued Ahn mother siblings out of the re-education camps giving them more reason to leave.

1. Anh mother can be characterised as polite, grateful, courage’s and carrying she sacrificed and put herself in danger leaving Vietnam so she could create a better life for her children. She only ever owned two pairs of pants and was pleased to receive free ‘jeans’ and clothing when arrived in Australia. She was so grateful when given girls cloth for her son Koha she didn’t say anything and he wore that for six months. She works minimum wage supporting three children sacrificing her health to be sure she can provide them with what they need to better their lives and grow up …show more content…

Anh mother and is Aunty have completely opposite parenting styles this is what causes rift in the family. Anh mother is very king and forgiving she nerves sees the point in punishment and is quick to forgive and forget she has a ‘soft touch’ and leniency. Anh mother is also supportive and trusting unlike Ahn Aunty how is aggressive and quick to judge and accuses quickly she also doesn’t have trust in others (family) and keeps her kids on a tight leash with little or no freedom. Due to Anh Auntie mistrust and unforgiving attitude she casue a rift between the families when she blames Ahn and his brother for stealing her money without evidence or proof she cause a argument between Anh mother and they later moved way due to
