Lee Harvey Oswald grew up with psychotic problems. He was described as withdrawn and temperamental. In his early teens, he allegedly hit his mother and threatened his half-brothers’ wife. Later, in 7th graded he was seen by a reformatory psychiatrist. The psychiatrist stated that Lee had a “personally pattern disturbance with schizoid and frustrations” (Biography of Lee Harvey Oswald, 2018). Violent bursts kept coming up in his life. During his military time, he used an unauthorized weapon, he fought with his sergeant, and thirdly he fired his rifle into a jungle in the Philippines. He never had a bond or attachment to the American society. He did not agree with their norms and values. Norms and values connects the 4th element of the theory which is belief. Oswald did not agree with the value system of the United States. With the lack of attachment and beliefs had lead Oswald to grow hatred for the United States and what the country stands for. Oswald’s case does not however, connect with the involvement and commitment element of the theory. The negative side of this theory is that it mostly focuses on juvenile social bonds. He didn’t want any success that made him do illegal acts, so that excludes innovation. He did not conform to the values of the any institution which rules out the ritualism adaption. He was not a homeless transient or made himself isolated from society, which means that excludes the retreatism adaption. That leaves the last adaption: rebellion. He was not a supporter of the United States of America. He was against the American government ways of politics. Based on the biography of Oswald he identified himself as a Marxist. He was so against what America stood for that he decided to kill two United States officials. First with the attempt murder on retired U.S Major Genera, Edwin Walker. However, the assassination was a failure. Based on a note that Oswald left his wife he stated that the Walker was a “leader of a fascists organization”. A few months after this event Oswald shot and killed President Kennedy and seriously wounded Texas Governor John Connally. Later, that day he was encountered with a police officer and Oswald shot and killed him too. When Oswald in the Soviet Union he stated he was a communist and later when he assassinated the president he stated he was a Marxists. He was a prime example of what is considered the opposite of the United states values and norms. He wanted the United States government to change and he eliminated the person who was the leader the organization: the president. The limitation that this
