the researchers found that muscle development in the fish is asymmetric. A lefty fish has a crescent-shaped body, with the muscles on the left side muscles more developed. The body of a righty is a the opposite. They also discovered that this asymmetry affects the way different species of fish interact with the bass. A righty bass hunts and eats more lefty baitfish, while a lefty bass consumes more righty baitfish. They then conducted fishing experiments in order to research the connection between body asymmetry and predatory behavior. They used the position of the hook set in the mouth to show the direction the fish was moving in when it took the bait. Righty fish had more hooks set on the right side, whereas lefty fish had more on the left
