Prostitution has always been a subject for argumentation, especially in modern day. The common theme that ties together these arguments over sex work in articles over the years is the legalization of prostitution. Prostitution is defined as engaging in sexual conduct for a fee. The people who seek this service are called “John’s.” The first law relevant in prostitution history was the Mann Act, passed in January of 1910. This act addressed prostitution in that it made transporting people as interstate or foreign commerce, for the purpose of prostitution, illegal. As by 1915 most states in the US made laws to outlaw prostitution, the 2013 legalization of prostitution in Nevada shows groundbreaking territory.
