The article is written by Richard Fenno in 1978, summarizing the dilemma of congressmen in the contemporary time. The author was specifically discussing about members of the House, who always seek for reelection during his legislative career, as stated in the initial part of the paper. Fenno went on to propose the conflict in incumbent congressmen 's career: more attention for the Washington career leads to less attention for the congressmen 's home state. The Washington career required commitment to build up support within the House. However, focusing on Washington rendered the congressman homeless, or losing his home 's supportive forces.

All five individuals performed in Memphis at some point during the early 1900s. Lewis, Stokes, Cannon, and Jackson each played guitar, but Smith was exclusively a singer. Along with the guitar Cannon also played the banjo, trombone, and piano. Lewis, Stokes, Cannon, and Jackson played at fish fries, suppers, parties, and also at medicine shows, which employed entertainers to draw a crowd to a tent or wagon where vendors hawked alcohol-based patent medicines.

I am honored and humbled for this great opportunity to address this joint meeting of the Congress of the United States. Honorable Speaker, Vice-President, and members of congress, I am truly privileged to stand here on behalf of my Hispanic, and immigrant brothers and sisters, who stand as an important pillar of this nation’s economy and prosperity. A year ago, I was living in one of the most dangerous countries of the world, devastated by the hands of poverty and delinquency, and torn with the materialized selfish thoughts and avarice of corrupt political leaders.
