Leidos is a publicly traded contractor. Their work specializes in Defense & Intelligence, Air Traffic, and Healthcare IT. Leidos is a Fortune 500 company and a top-twenty federal contractor, with over $5 Billion in total revenue. In 2016, Leidos completed a merger with Lockheed Martin’s Information Systems & Global Solutions, more than doubling the size of Leidos, to now over 33,000 employees. The company plays critical roles in many industries, where a potential breach could be catastrophic for both the company and public safety. They do cyber-security work for 90 of the Fortune 500 companies as well as the FBI. Leidos develops training systems for the military, including flight simulators and mission analytics. They also develop sensors for field use for purposes such as electronic warfare, improvised explosive device detection, x-ray detection of explosives, and radiation detection. Leidos was founded under the name “SAIC” in 1969, and in 2013 the company split into two parts, Leidos and SAIC. Leidos, the larger part, focuses on solution development, and SAIC on services. The company is headquartered in Reston, Virginia, and claims more than 400 locations across 30 countries. In addition to the U.S., Leidos has locations in the U.K, Australia, the Middle East, Canada, and Israel. Leidos also owns several subsidiary companies, including several that came from the Lockheed Martin IS&GS merger. Leidos employees are often highly educated: 1,100 employees possess a PhD, 6,900 employees possess a Master’s degree, and 20% of their employees have military experience.
