My colleagues introduced me to a man widely known both in medical and literature circles of Israel. For many years, Leon Agulyansky has been successfully combining his active work of the surgeon-urologist with creative writing. The book “Chronic Prostatitis” (authors: V. N. Tkachuk, A.G. Gorbachov, L.I. Agulyasky) was published in 1989. At that time, the monograph reflected a new approach to the treatment of this disease. Besides, I'm the author of 35 scientific papers published in Russian and English magazines. But it’s all in the past. At some point, I found it disappointing. The development of medical science is so rapid that all the skills together with the highest qualification of a whole generation can be "nulled" in several years. We have spent a lifetime to learn the operations and procedures, which are not applied now. Sometimes I think that this profession is cruel to those devoting their best years to it, as well as health and life. "The Prostate and Its Diseases" was written for patients, although it is popular among colleagues. - When I was just a child, my grandmother and I once came to the famous Kiev doctor Goldenberg, and we found him studying a book in the office. He greeted us with the words: "Here I am sitting and studying. The doctor ought to learn for life. " He was 80 years old. Tell me please, do you agree with
