They went out and happened to things.” According to BrainyQuote, this is one of Leonardo’s best quotes. This quote really represents da Vinci and how he formed his legacy. In the Leaving a Legacy unit, the legacies of different people and movements were explored. Leonardo da Vinci was a very unique person who left a very important legacy that is still recognized today.

Some of the most famous of these things were his paintings, but unfortunately only about 15 of them remain. His most famous ones are Virgin of the Rocks, The Last Supper, and of course, Mona Lisa (“Leonardo da Vinci Biography”). Also, he had a journal with a plethora of different sketches, such as the Vitruvian Man and notes on observations about anatomy, architecture, and mechanics (“Leonardo da Vinci”). Some of the things that he designed helped people of later generations actually build them. Some of these things include the flying machine, helicopter, parachute, armored car (tank), 33-barreled organ (which would become a machine gun), self-propelled carts, and scuba gear. However, he didn’t just design new things, he also improved things that other people have made. One example of an improvement was done to the anemometer, which measure the speed of wind, so that it could measure the force of the wind as well. Another improvement was a design for a more accurate clock (“Leonardo da Vinci Inventions”). These different designs and improvements have genuinely been were a great part of his legacy.
The legacy that da Vinci left is still today. His legacy started when he was 14 years old, training under the master Verrocchio. His aboundingly great pictures that he painted and drew like the Mona Lisa and the Vitruvian Man even helped him become great friends with King Francis I.
