Leonardo da Vinci created the first ever flying machine, which can also be known as the “ornithopter”. It expresses his passion in a way for flight of animals with wings. He hoped to replicate it by building his flying machine. He had got his inspiration from kites, bats, and birds, which was discovered in a book full of notes. He also used science to enhance his paintings, for example, the Mona Lisa which was a famous piece, and he was truly and quickly intrigued by it. Leonardo designed it to scatter any upcoming army trying to attack. The armoured car has multiple cannons organized on a circular surface with wheels able to move a 360 degree range. The circular platform is covered by a larger protective surface that is reinforced with metal plates and was tilted for a better target at the attackers. The first tank wasn’t built until September 15, 1916 and was used in the Battle of Flers Courcelette. Sadly his sketches were less well known. It wasn’t until 300 years later that his sketches came to life, though he was not there to see nor experience them, they were still made. His sketches were to come alive. Leonardo was an italian man. After his death, all his belongings were sent to Italy, even his sketches. Francesco Melzi, sent them there not knowing the importance of them. Over centuries, the pages from his sketch book still exist in its original form, but have been passed around separate ways. Over 5,000 pages of his sketches still exist to this day, but are mirror written. He was born on April 15, 1452 and died in May 2, 1519, only living for 67 years.
