Life is full of lessons and each person learns each lesson differently. Leonardo is believed to have a lesson or hidden meaning in most of his paintings. Paintings such as the Mona Lisa have multiple conspiracy theories behind them but nobody but Leonardo knows the true meaning of them. Leonardo’s painting, The Last Supper, has many experts with many different opinions about it. Though all experts agree that da Vinci’s painting is the best out of the many recreations of the scene. Leonardo painted a lot of religious scenes which were all a catholic outlook. Suchs paintings, like the “Baptism of Christ”, show Jesus being baptized. The faces of the disciples are all painted to match their emotions. Some of those emotions are sadness, anger, fear and shock. Judas, the one who betrays Jesus is the only disciple with the look of anger on his face. All the other people are astonished and surprised by the news they had just received. Along with Judas’ face, he also has a container of spilled salt in front of him. Spilled salt is a symbolic reference of betrayal and lies. Jesus says that the person that put their hand in the same bowl as him is the same person that will betray him. None of the followers see it but Judas and Jesus both reach out for what appears to be the same bowl. These are not the only references though. The wine represents Jesus’ blood and the bread his body. Also, Thomas who is on Jesus’ left side, is pointing his finger into the air. This is believe to show that within the next couple days Jesus will rise again. It is noticeable that everything is painted to what seems to be a centerpiece of this picture. The center of this picture is Jesus and everything, including the walls was painted off of him using a hammer and a nail. Leonardo even went as far to paint the fish as eel to show the faith in Jesus by his people. Dan Brown, a very well viewed author who wrote the book, “The Da Vinci Code”, claims that the person to Jesus’ right is not actually John but Mary.
