Lessons Learned by Protagonist- Ruthie learns that a life of transience can be either beneficial or detrimental. However, with change there will always be new experiences and if you are trapped within an experience that you do not like, as a transient, you will soon leave the experience behind you. She also learns to embrace nature and the entropy that occurs within it. Unlike the town or her grandmother who were very orderly, Ruthie understands that the tendency of nature to tend towards disorder is ultimately impossible to stop.
