To my dearest Mina, I don’t want to fear you with this letter, but I fear myself thinking you will never know the truth. Things on my trip haven’t exactly been the norm. What I’m about to disclose to you in this letter, well you might think I’m lying or playing a trick, but I promise you I am not. I guess I should start at the beginning so here I go. Things seemed normal at first, the food was delicious, and I even got the names so we could cook them at home. We might have to do that later than I expected... When I first met Dracula he seemed nice enough, a little strange, but that ended very quickly. It became quite apparent I wasn’t a guest for the next month, I was a prisoner in that castle. The castle was very grand but also very creepy. There was no servants, not one for the whole castle and there were no mirrors! One day I was shaving and the most peculiar thing happened. Dracula was behind me! I know he was! I saw him with my own eyes! But what my eyes didn’t see was Dracula through my mirror! I can’t explain how or why, but I know what I saw, or what I didn’t see. Then Dracula's demeanor shifted so violently when he saw the blood dripping down my chin after I had cut. He lunged for my neck, and just as suddenly as it came, it went.
