Good morning I am Luke Thomsen, I am representing the State of Maycomb on a case about Sheriff Heck Tate’s poor investigation. On two counts we will first hear about his poor investigation in the Tom Robinson V, Mayella Ewell case and in the death of Bob Ewell for we never found out who truly murdered Bob Ewell for Sheriff Heck was too lazy to document it. THE THEME AND THEORY
The Rise of Daniel Hale Williams Daniel Hale Williams III was an extraordinary African American surgeon. Dr. Williams, the son of a barber, was a free African American born during the 1800s to Daniel Hale Williams II and Sarah Williams. Dr. Williams’ family was heavily impacted by the ongoing history at the time. Furthermore, Dr. Williams’ ancestors were slaves. Daniel’s ancestors on both sides were a mixture of European, Native American, and African American.
Both sources provided basic details about former State Representative Raymond W. Ewell. However, I found the first source, History Makers to be undoubtedly creditable. This source included an exclusive glimpse into the life of the senator. The History Maker, website provides researchers with pertinent facts about Mr. Ewell life. Also, the information provided seem to have been solicited directly from Representative Ewell in the form of a one on one interview.
Johnny Cade is 16 years old, a greaser, and lives in the East Side of the town which is where the poor class lives. He was not very good in school, but was a quiet boy trying his best to not get in a “mess”. He would be very nervous when talking to people/strangers he didn’t know about, especially the Socs. He died being a hero to all young and old saving lives although his life was taken away. Johnny Cade was born in March 1,1949 and died in the year of 1965.
Jason Williams was born on October 17, 1986 (currently 31 years old), in Rotterdam, Netherlands. His father, Thomas Williams, is an African American and a practicing Catholic from Brooklyn, New York, and worked as a school teacher. Jason Williams mother, Sandra Williams is a white Catholic from the Netherlands who worked as an English teacher and florist. He is their only child. Jason Williams parents divorced when he was five years old.
Holly Barker Mrs. Blomme English 11 15 December 2014 Walter Dean Myers Walter Dean Myers was an author born in the late nineteen thirties who wrote stories for troubled kids and teens. Walter Dean Myers wrote about the lives of struggling or troubled teens and what it was like growing up in their shoes, because at one point he was in their shoes.
When someone thinks of a great African American hero, they usually think of someone such as Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks, and to a lesser extent, Harriet Tubman. But many names, such as Robert Smalls, go unnoticed, even though they too, did something incredible that helped win freedom for themselves and others. Smalls is just one hero, and here is his story: On April 5, 1839, Robert Smalls was born into slavery on a Beaufort plantation. Since his father was likely his master, he was treated well as a house slave.
Perceptions from others can be cruel. Criminals are often thought of negatively by themselves and are also disrespected by others in society. The novel Monster presents the impressions people have about Steve Harmon, an accused criminal on trial for robbery and murder. Furthermore, the text explains Steve’s views of himself during and after time in prison from first person point-of-view. The novel Monster by Walter Dean Myers highlights the various perceptions that exist about an accused criminal.
Blumberg writes, "Several of the accused had close ties to one another and a long-standing grudge against the Putnams" (Blumberg, 1). This quote highlights the personal vendettas that drove the accusations and underscores how easily societal norms can be weaponized against individuals through manipulation and coercion. The trials resulted in significant harm to the accused and their families due to unchecked hostility. Harrison Bergeron portrays how poor leadership can lead to a loss of individuality and personal choice.
John Marsden was born on the 27th of September, 1950. Marsden was born in Victoria, Australia, despite this, he spent his first 10 years of life in the country towns of Kyneton, Victoria and Devonport, Tasmania. His name has a high aspect of respect, due to the fact of being a nephew of well-known colonial Anglican clergyman and magistrate, Samuel Marsden. At the age of 10, Marsden moved to Sydney and later attended, The King’s School, Parramatta, renowned for its military style and approach towards education. Marsden’s hobbies during his spare time included education, scrabble, reading, writing and backyard cricket.
Reuven is very annoyed that Reb Saunders is not allowing his son to talk to him. He really misses Danny. Being forced to be in the same room with Danny, but not being allowed to talk to him, makes Reuven very frustrated. The silence is ugly, because it forces Danny and Reuven to be near each other and think bad things about each other, but it doesn’t allow them to talk. Because Reuven and Danny can’t talk, Reuven can’t be 100% convinced that Danny’s feelings about their friendship hadn’t changed.
John Dillinger was one of the most notorious criminals in American history. He was known to be part of the most organized and deadly bank robbing gang and highly wanted by the FBI. John began his criminal behavior at a young age, initiating his urge to become a professional bank robber. Using the psychodynamic theory, social learning theory and the differential association theory, I hope to analyze the factors that triggered John Dillinger's criminal behavior that was present in his childhood, leading to his adulthood and how he managed to maintain his label as a thief. John Herbert Dillinger was born on June 22, 1903, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the youngest child to John Wilson Dillinger and Mary Ellen Lancaster.
Most likely, one has heard about the story of Pocahontas and John Smith. However, John Smith was not as loving and kind as he was portrayed. In the letter Address to Captain Smith, the speaker, Chief Powhatan, Pocahontas’ father, takes a condescending tone and addresses to the English settlers, especially John Smith, how the chief’s generous hospitality has not been appreciated. Literary devices such as rhetorical questions, antithesis, and repetition, diction, and pathos and ethos are exercised by Chief Powhatan to address his purpose and produce it as impactful as fully possible.
Wrongful convictions are one of the most worrisome and tragic downsides to the Canadian Criminal Justice System. As stated by Campbell & Denov (2016). “cases of wrongful convictions in Canada call into question the ability of our criminal justice system to distinguish between the guilty and innocence” (p. 226). In addition, wrongful convictions can have devastating repercussions on the person, who was found guilty, effecting their personal/public identities, beliefs and family lives. This essay will be examine some of the common factors that apply to the conviction of an innocence person.
