“Then the sniper turned over the dead body and looked into his brother’s face.” In the article, “The Sniper” by Liam O’Flaherty, the man in the story is a sniper and he is laying on the ground observing and waiting to kill someone. Once he realize he’s killed someone he jumps off the roof and goes towards the body. Something was telling him that he should not go towards but he went anyway. What he found was his brother's body so he was afraid because he just found out he shot his own brother now for the rest he has to live with a guilty conscience. Sniper starts to have flashbacks of the times him and his brother had before the shooting and he realizes all the pain he has caused all of his family. Him and his brother was not on the best term growing up but he wanted to make amends with him but the brother did not really care that much. As time past, Sniper finally tells his parents that he had killed his brother because they thought for the longest that someone else had killed him. When the funeral came around there parents told Sniper he was not invited. After that day he started to things he did not mean because he lost his brother and his parents just by an accidental shooting and it hit his brother. He even got to the point where he was not eating or drinking anything. He became dehydrated it was almost like he wanted to commit suicide. Finally his parents got over the grudge and tried to make amends with him but they had no idea where he was it was like he fell over the face of the earth.
