Liberal Arts and STEM Education The decision of college could more or less be summed up as one that does not necessarily need your input. Many of those around you, parents, teachers, peers, all of them seemingly decide before you offer that you will inevitably go to a college. However, many are beginning to question if college is really worth all the crediting it has received, both now and in the past. College admissions to both Liberal Arts and STEM colleges have increased within the past 20 to 30 years, and the prices of now make people question if paying for college has worth these days. Within today’s economy, the inevitable student debt from college becomes difficult to pay off, especially with the jobs becoming tighter and requiring more specific skills. This leads to two questions question, is a liberal arts education worth getting with the way money and jobs are now, or does the type of education get determine how worth while it is? Others will disagree and fight to say that one type of college is better than the other. Perhaps that if you choose liberal arts over STEM you’re bound to make a fool out of yourself and will never thrive in today’s world. Or perhaps you choose STEM over liberal arts and many criticize you depending on the type of STEM you are working on, or that you’re digging a hole too deep with how selective jobs are that you will never get to where you want to go. Both have many downsides and criticisms, but the worth of a college education is what one makes of it.
