Colby Kahla Mr. DeMoss Pre-AP English II 5 May 2017 Liberal Media Today’s media sources have specific audiences that they are trying to sway with the information they have prepared and therefore will cut out bits and pieces so that only the specific message they are trying to get across will be received. So, undoubtedly there is media bias, and more often than not the media skews towards the liberal viewpoint, as many journalists and reporters have shown liberal views themselves. People rely on the media to report what they believe to be factual news and political points to guide them in making their decision when it comes time for them to vote; therefore, the media affects the public’s views by showing the people what they want them to see and not always the truth. The media will focus on the issues in a campaign they believe to be the most important, even if there are many important issues. The media also plays many other tricks to manipulate the people into believing what they want the people to believe. While the job of the moderator in a debate is to keep the debate moderate and equal, moderators seemed to sway the audience’s views by asking Mrs. Clinton more simplistic questions than Mr. Trump, by giving her more chances to speak than Mr. Trump, and by interrupting Mr. Trump when he spoke a good argument against Mrs. Clinton on many issues. Also, CNN/ORC claimed that Mrs. Clinton “won” all three of the presidential debates in a way to sway the people to the liberal side (Aglesta 1).
