Libertarianism on taxes are quite explicit. The least taxation or coercion that an individual receives from the government and from others the better. Libertarians have this view for many reasons and those reasons include their view on labor, self-ownership, liberties, self-determination (choice) taxes, coercion (force), and the government. Only through coercion of individual and the individual's liberties can governments obtain taxes for the populus. When an individual is coerced to do something they do not want to do they are subjected to a form of slavery. Furthermore, people have a right to determine what and what not to do and where their own money goes. Individuals choose what products they spend it on -- even if that means they choose not to accept something that my beneficial to them or something beneficial that would make everyone better off. A libertarian would state that health care is not a right much like having a driver’s license in not a right either. They see health care a service and services are rendered not natrual obtained. Thus, being forced to pay into the Affordable Care Act through taxes is a coercion Libertarians dismiss. They dismiss it not only for the coercion through taxes but also the justifications for having the legislation itself. Proponents of the Act say it would make it more accessible and affordable for others to be able to be insured-- mainly the poor. This would, in effect, require distributive justice because it forces individuals to pay for others.
