Before WW2 starts, because of their mother giving them up, Liesel Meminger gets sent away to Germany to her new foster family, Rosa and Hans Huberman. They were expecting both her and her brother, but he died, and was buried on the way. Because of the tragedy,

She is caring, loving, challenging, smart, quiet, standoffish, mysterious, energetic, curious, and a survivor. She is caring and loving because of how she takes care of and reads to Max when he is the basement, and how she keeps her eye on him when he sick. She is challenging and standoffish because of the time when she is driven to Himmel street, in Munich to go live with her foster parents. Due to the fact that she will not get out of the car. She is smart because she catches on quickly to things. She is mysterious because of her personality at the beginning. She is curious because when her brother dies and gets buried she sees the grave diggers handbook drop on the ground and she is curious to see what it is, so she takes it. She is a survivor because when the bombs fall on her bock in the middle of the night, she is in the basement, and she is the only one on her block the survives. She also survives the whole war. She has brown eyes, a small built body, short blonde hair in the beginning, and long blonde hair at the end. Books motivate her, to the point that she steals them. A flashback in the book is when Liesel had nightmares about her brother dying. Symbolism is when an object represents something important. A symbolism in the book is when Hans goes off to war, Rosa held his accordion at night to make her feel like he is there with her. A Metaphor is comparing or describing something without using like or as. A metaphor in the book is when Liesel studies Hans eyes, how they were made of kindness and silver. A Simile is comparing or describing something using like or as. A simile in the book is when Hans discovers he is drafted into the army, Liesel sees their faces like ghost towns. A personification is when an object or thing is described to have traits of a person or human characteristics. A personification in the book is when Himmel street gets bombed, and when Liesel doesn’t know what happened, a man comes up to her and tells her what happened. Her reaction is described as her mouth wanders on, even if her body is still.
A new ending I would make for the book is how Rudy would survive, and marry Liesel. Rosa and Hans would survive. And Liesel’s real mother wouldn’t die and come and let Liesel know that she didn’t die. The book ending consisted of when Liesel is writing about her life in the basement, and Hans catches her asleep, tells her goodnight, and goes upstairs to bed. A while later bombs destroy the whole block. Everyone
