During the 18th century a life changing era began that would shape the lives of the upper, middle, and working class forever. The Industrial Revolution also known as the technological revolution is marked as the shift from small businesses (which produced small batches of goods typically made by hand or by hand held tools) to large industrustrious super companies (which harbored new machinery that increased the speed of production). These new companies though impressive held dark secrets within them. While in most aspects the upper classes and the middle classes became better, the lower classes sadly sank lower. The Industrial Revolution was profoundly life changing for the lower classes because it changed the conditions in which they worked, their wages, and their family lives.
Working conditions have alway been and always will be an ever changing aspect of life for the working class. When the Industrial Revolution began more and more factories were opening. When the Industrial Revolution began it was argued that the wages were going up. This is only true for the upper classes and factory owners. The lower classes were not paid increased wages, even though they were working longer hours and had worse working conditions. The lower classes were not only doing maintenance on these machines but they were also being replaced by them. Pay went up for the upper class and factory owners because the lower classes were working longer hours with the new machines and these new machines were producing large masses of products(Industrial Revolution Research).
