Nicolas Copernicus was born on February 19, 1473. He was born at Poland. When Copernicus was eighteen, he traveled to Italy for collage. In collage Copernicus prepared for a career in a church. Part of Copernicus’s education in collage was astrology. At that time it was important for priest and doctors to learn how to read future events by reading the stars. Copernicus attended the University of Bologna. His astronomy professor was Domenico Maria de Novara. He helped Copernicus by making him make observations of the heavens. He returned back to Poland to take up official duties in Frauenburg. During the Night time he’ll look up at his window and study the night sky. Meaning the stars, sun and planets revolved around the earth. Copernicus wrote a book about his view on the universe, which he gave his friends. In that book he wrote that the earth was not in the center of the universe, but the sun is. He also wrote about the reason why we have different seasons and rising and setting of the sun happens because of the earth moving around the sun. When Copernicus was laying in his deathbed at the age of 70, he published his book called “De Revolutionibus Orbium Coelestium”.
