Moses Montrose was born on April 30th, 1741. He was the son of Montrose and Phillis, both of them being slaves. As stated in “David Naughty Will,” David states that all children of Phillis and Montrose would be free. However, following David’s death, Ruth states that in her will, only Montrose and Phillis would be free, but not their children,
As previously mentioned in the previous chapter regarding the life of Moses, sometime around 1446BC, he goes to discuss with the Pharaoh the release of the Israelites from slavery. The Pharaoh refuses to release the Israelites, consquently, God releases ten plagues onto Egypt to force the Pharaoh to let the Israelites leave Egypt. Another thing we can learn from God and Moses relationship is obedience. Moses obeyed God in everything that God told him to fulfill. When God told Moses to lead the Hebrews out of Egypt, Moses did not stop until he led the Hebrews out of Egypt.
Moses was born a Hebrew but raised as a Prince of Egypt, only to realize that his Egyptian ways of life was a betrayal to his people, therefore he had to turn away from it and help his people to be freed from Egypt. He was the 7th child of 13 children. His dad Moses also known as “Cap” he owned 80-acres of farmland. His dad used his farmland to grow many foods like corn, cotton, and many other foods. Moses was as strong old man and an independent patriarch. He refused to be treated as a second-class status by the whites that lived in the south.
The death of his master clearly affected him. This is shown when the author states “finally freed himself of the ancient and brittle harness that connected him to the oldest mule his master owned”. This highlights the connection that Moses and his master had which wouldn't have been as emphasized if it was told in Moses’s point of view. This furthermore displays his thoughtful and sensitive nature of how much he cared for him and how he still thinks about
The existence of the Exodus has been a controversy for many years. The lack of evidence from the episodes occurred in the exodus has made the scientific and many other persons that the exodus never occurred. Although this negative comments of the existence of the exodus we have some archeological evidence. Some archeologists found a palace that they said is not from an Egyptian official but still it was someone important. This palace had 12 columns and what they found more interesting that in the back part they found 12 graves.
Moses guided the people and helped them from their strife. Moses originally supported the government and the Pharaoh of Egypt. He grew up as a son of the Pharaoh and therefore believed in the corrupt government of Egypt. However, he eventually embarked on a path of God and learned what was moral and right. Many books showcase the effects of war and discrimination. One that I know of is Snow Falling on Cedars. In this novel, a Japanese man named Kabuo, is repeatedly discriminated against – whether it be in his personal life or in the courtroom. Even his childhood friend, Carl, begins to look badly at him because of his race after he is finished fighting in World War Two. WWII created discrimination against the Japanese with vandalism and nicknames, denied rights, and anti-Japanese organizations.
One of the most important things that is needed to fully understand this paper is the answer to the question that some people may be asking right now; Who is Jesus? This is crucial point that plays a key role in why Jesus was killed. Finding information about Jesus of Nazareth is actually fairly easy, I mean Christianity, which was founded on the teachings and lessons of Jesus, takes up around a third of the world’s population with its members, but the hard part comes when faced with the question; Is this information accurate? Despite being appointed as God’s chosen liberator of the Israelites, Moses is a person incapable of effectively leading his people. Moses’s lack of charisma, confidence, and determination are his greatest flaws as a leader which are demonstrated when he initially fails to stop his fellow Hebrews from fighting. His critical flaws as a leader initiates a chain of failures that will befall the Israelites during their journey and their eventual punishment of never reaching the Promised Land. One of Moses’s greatest shortcomings as a leader is his lack of charisma. He is unable to make the people naturally follow him and his words.
“The Bible: The Epic Miniseries” The story of Moses is among the most well-known stories of the Bible, yet nothing is mentioned about Moses’ childhood or teenage years. “The Bible: The Epic Miniseries” took this as an opportunity to illustrate an inferred story of how Moses came to realize his descent. While some aspects of the biblical story seep through this portion of the episode, much of it strays from the original source, adding and deleting parts that are either relevant or irrelevant to the plot of the episode.
