Through the book, Life Together, by Dietrich Bonhoeffer, God revealed to me so many new incredible truths as well as different perspectives on topics I have focused on in the past. The focus of the book is to spread not only the importance of unity in Christ, but also on ways we can cultivate this unity, spread the love of Christ to those in the community God has placed us into, and it revealed to us many false truths not only we as Christians, but also non-Christians believe about community. This book served an important purpose, especially as Christian college students as it’s often difficult to cultivate the tasks expected of us in the community of Christ. I loved the insight Bonhoeffer gave regarding not only how we should be establishing Christian community, but also why it’s such an important part of the Church. He reminds us numerous times that having a safe, caring community to build us up is not something to be taken lightly. Many Christians are without a group like the ones we find on college campuses, in churches, in small groups, or even in families. Many people would give a lot to be a part of a group many of us often take for granted, or choose not to participate in. I would recommend this book to anyone as I believe it can apply to people in various situations. While it was very beneficial to those of us on a Christian college campus, it can apply to those in churches, families, and even those mentioned who don’t have the luxury of being part of a Christian community. I enjoyed the book a lot, and I think many of the concepts I learned in it will apply to my life going forward. I would definitely read more books on this topic or related topics, but I probably wouldn’t choose to read other books by Bonhoeffer as his writing style was often very repetitive and mundane. I would choose an author who puts more pizazz and emotion into their works. Overall, the book was very beneficial to my life, and I will most certainly be recommending it to other
