93 Words1 Pages
Harry Lime is revealed for the first time at night time in complete darkness. In fact, the street light is the only source of light and a cat is all you can see. Just as Holly Martins begins to shout, a women suddenly opens a window. At this point Harry becomes highlighted by a beam of light shining straight at his face and the shadows on the wall contribute to heighten the tension in the scene. The film overall sparingly used natural light which points out the post war darkness enveloping the city.
