The election of President Lincoln had a huge affect on the civil war. Lincoln made numerous attempts to free slaves and to end the civil war. All of his attempts had helped in ways to end the civil war. His attempts included of the 13th amendment, the Emancipation Proclamation, his hard work on keeping the United States as one, and etc. Also because of the election of president Lincoln the 14th and 15th amendment was later on made as one of the Civil War Amendments.
Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass were both selfless men who were willing to sacrifice themselves to earn their own and others’ freedom and liberty. Because of Lincoln’s well thought out plans and generosity, not only did he help the generation he was living in but he heroically saved the future generations from suffer before passing away, “He is dead; but the cause he so ardently loved, so ably, patiently, faithfully represented and defended- not for himself only, not for us only, but for all the people in all their coming generations… will survive it,” (SB pg.68). Lincoln is an iconic example of a man who was smart in his plans and truly cared about the future. Douglass was also an unselfish man that inspired many and to top everything
In 1776 20% of The United States population was slaves. That's 600,000 African Americans forced into the horrible conditions of slavery. They were enslaved for many years until brave people like Abraham Lincoln and Fredrick Douglass fought hard against slavery. They dedicated years of their lives fighting the injustice of the slavery and the white’s that kept slavery going. Abraham Lincoln and Fredrick Douglass also had different things in common during their fight of slavery.
Lincoln only wanted to stop slavery from spreading to new territories. Even though he stated that he did not wish to end slavery in the southern states, many states still feared that if Lincoln won, they would lose their slaves, whom their economy depended on for picking the cotton on their plantations.
President Lincoln was one of the most influential presidents the United States has had. Thus, impacting both during his lifetime and even after, especially for African Americans. For instance, after Lincolns assassination he, without intention, impacted African Americans both economically and socially. Thus consequently, African Americans equality was an issue that was now held on a long pause due to lack of representation, and economically they were suffering after the war. The situation was not the best for African Americans, but they tried their best to prosper with what they had.
These meeting of both leaders gave them a good chance to grow profound. It gave them a chance to share ideas and thoughts which resulted in better understanding between them and found they both support same thing. Douglass found that Lincoln wanted to give slaves more right such as recruiting them into army, which he really liked and thought it was an important aspect of emancipation

However, he also wished that it end peacefully. He wished that once the fighting had ceased and the war was declared over, that the North and South care for each other as they do their own people. But, a peace would be very difficult to achieve due to how long this war had been going on and how many lives were lost in this conflict. By this quote from the final lines of the Second Inaugural Address by Lincoln, “With malice toward none; with charity for all; with firmness in the right, as God gave us to see the right, let us strive on to finish the work we are in; to bind up the nation’s wounds; to care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan - to do all which may achieve and cherish a just and lasting peace among ourselves, and with all nations,” Lincoln showed his true emotion and feelings about the war. He wanted nothing but peace.

The consequences would be that at first the newly freed slaves wouldn’t have a place to go, because they never had no money and they didn’t have all their rights yet. " Lincoln freed the slaves to speak in the southern resistance strengthen the federal government and encourage free blacks to fight in the Union Army thus preserving the union. The Civil War was a very influential turning point in the history of the United States. The war not only strengthened the connection of the states, specifically between states in the north and south, but it also resulted in the end of the old way of life in the south, known as the old south. The way of life style in the Old South was loved by many, Rhett from Gone With the Wind being one of them. Rhett and his future wife, but current friend Scarlett were fleeing Atlanta after an attack from the north when Rhett told Scarlett that she was witnessing the end of the Old South. Through the analysis of his speech, it is evident that Lincoln was aiming at preserving the union and this made a great contribution to American Civil War. His act of preserving the union was for the sole purpose of strengthening the country and bring it closer through his ideas that were open minded. Through his speech we can point out the cause of the civil war, the people responsible for it, the consequences of the war and also why his inauguration speech is considered important in early history of America. The actual event was propelled by the victory of the Union which was attained only after a lot of blood was shed and the results were the abolition of slavery.
Eventually, the North started fighting for the rights of slaves. The Emancipation Proclamation was announced by President Abraham Lincoln. The end of the Civil War brought about the final end to slavery in the United States, weakened the South, and lead to the death of Abraham Lincoln. The Emancipation Proclamation announced that all slaves were free.
