The Lincoln Memorial was built to honour our 16th President, Abraham Lincoln. The Memorial is located on the western end of the National Mall in Washington D.C. The Lincoln Memorial is one of our greatest monuments. This monument has an interesting history. It has been visited by millions people. The Lincoln Memorial is the 5th most popular tourist attraction. If you are ever in Washington, D.C. I recommend that you visit the Memorial. It will be one of the greatest things you will see.

The Lincoln Memorial was designed by Henry Bacon and the statue was designed by Daniel Chester French. It was designed to look like the Greek temple building, Parthenon. It cost three million dollars to build the whole thing and it was only supposed to be two million. While building the memorial no one died. Many famous movies have included shots of the memorial. To name a few movies, Legally Blonde, Forrest Gump, Independence Day, and White House Down. The Lincoln Memorial has a very unlikely history people love.

The Lincoln Memorial is impact by tourist every single day. It is rated one of the top ten monuments in D.C. The monument is visited by six million annually. To keep it safe and to replace marble they get donations. One of the busiest times is around 3. Tourists are always rushing around. On July 26, 2013, Jiamei Tian painted the bottom of the columns green racist remarks making people very mad. The Monument would not be what it is today without tourism.
