My hero is Lindsay McGhee. Lindsay is my church and small group leader who graduated from the University of Georgia and now works at the church I attend. She has changed my life completely! She has many heroic qualities but the ones that stand out the most are, she is always there for me and my small group, she is always happy and knows how to turn a sad moment into a happy one, and she has open arms for everyone. Lindsay might be one of the most influential people I have ever met! I met Lindsay on a Sunday during confirmation at my church. Lindsay has also gone to our church, Peachtree Presbyterian, her entire life. Lindsay started working at church last year right before confirmation which is when I met the group of girls that are like my sisters. We have a gotten so close that we decided to start a small group every Sunday night for a hour where we talk about life and our relationship with God. It is the highlight of my week. Every single one of these girls mean the world to me and for Lindsay to go out of her way to make time for all of us to be together one time each week is truly amazing. Lindsay told me that when she was in high school that this verse is what she read every time she was down or needed inspiration, “no temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13. This verse says to me that no matter how tempted you are to do things, God will not let you go past more than you can handle, and that He will help you through it. I feel that Lindsay is kind of living through this verse, because she has faith in all of us. I really need this verse because there are many things in my life that I need to work on and now when I need help I can just look back at this bible verse. Lindsay to me is the person who has shaped me the most to become who I am today. Lindsay truly is who I want to be like when I get older.
