How can I take Linear Equations out of the classroom into the real world? There have been some ways that I have noticed them being used on television, and in my daily life. They can be used for many things. A few different ways that they can be used are calculating how much something cost, or how much of a discount you are getting on something. When I go shopping for clothing I always look for discounted prices. I used math to figure out what the original price was to determine if I am actually getting a true discount. I went into one of my favorite stores Aldo and went into the shirt isle. The shirt was discounted for $15, the discount was 35% how much did the shirt originally cost?. The shirt originally priced at $23.08, the equation that I used to figure the original price was p-0.35p=15.00, 0.65p=15.00,p=15.00/0.65= $23. 08. …show more content…
You have two cars racing at high speeds towards a finish line, and linear equations help determine the speed, time, and distance to the finish line. The cars are both going 100 miles per hour times the distance to the finish line. When I look at the news, they are always talking about gas prices, and the fact that the gas prices increase during the summer due to traveling. I often wonder how much gas stations sale in gas a day or just in general after a few sales. I could use a linear equation to determine how much the gas prices are per gallon and multiply that by the number of people who have purchased the gas. Gas prices sometimes increase due to economical reasons and gas can be one price on the way to school, and and a higher price by the time you get
