People talk to others,it is how they communicate with one other. It helps people express their feelings.If they don’t want to share with basically the entire world then they share with their best friend.In the book Lions of Little Rock, Marlee does that with her best friend Liz .I think the theme is that friendship is worth taking risks.I think that because all throughout the story both Marlee and Liz display this theme.Like meeting Marlee at the zoo, meeting Liz at the Gem( a BLACK theater), or something as simple as helping Marlee get signatures.The thing you have to understand while reading this essay is the time period in this book is when segregation was still a big thing in the U.S. So these are risks that both of them take The first reason I think the theme is friendship is worth taking risks is, the risks Liz had to take was meeting Marlee at the zoo, that was a place where anyone could have caught her sneaking out to this public place and she had just RECENTLY been caught passing for white. All Liz wanted to do was give Marlee the book she earned, but it was not a necessity if you ask me it seems as if Liz just wanted to see one of her only friends, since she described school being tough. In the story on page 232 it says, “If someone was hesitant or nervous about signing , Liz just started talking, and by the time she was done, not only had the first person sign but he’d gotten three of his friends to sign too.” LEt me expand for a second, they supported each other in public some people may not have the courage to do that especially if someone like Red was out the get them.
