Suicide is a major social issue in which its frequency differs depending on specific factors such as gender, age, and ethnic group. ¨The annual age-adjusted suicide rate is 13.42 per 100,000 individuals.¨ by The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Two very different artists, Billie Eilish, and Blink 182 addressed experiences with suicide in their songs "Before I Go" and "Adams Song," respectively. Due to the fact that Billie Eilish's alternative pop music is based on her difficulties and depression, it is recognized as being dark and dismal. Nonetheless, she does not work alone; her older brother produces her music while they collaborate on songwriting. Following the incidents that made them feel suicidal, the two songs both dwell on the negative things that had happened before feeling as they did. Billies Eilish was quoted as stating, "Tell me, love is endless, don't be so pretentious," because her song primarily concerns the harmful effects of an adolescent relationship. (The first line of Billie Eilish's song, "Listen before I Go") ¨Leave me as you do¨.In contrast to Billie's heartbreak, Adam's Song is an acknowledgment of all his mistakes and challenges that are driving him to consider suicide. Blink 182 continues to elaborate on these mistakes, mentioning how he spilled apple juice in the hallway. (second verse to ¨Adams Song¨ by Blink 182). Going as far as to include things to tell their friends and families after their death seen in verse 2 of ¨ Adam´s Song¨, ¨Please tell my mom it's not her fault¨. The line "Call my friend and tell them that I love them and ill miss them but I'm not sorry" appears in Billie Eilish's song "Listen before I go," which is another illustration of this. Despite the fact that both songs share the same struggles we see two different endings to these songs. In Billie's song, she has described her scenery as being at the top of a roof wanting to see the world before she stops breathing (verse one). But in Blink 182´s song we see him contemplating his life and life with him gone, although he is having these thoughts there is never a commitment to them. On the other hand, Billie ends her song restating the verse ¨Call my friends and tell them that I love them and ill miss them¨but instead of saying I'm not sorry she ends the song with sorry, from this, we get the idea that she did go forward with her decision.
