People use literacy to express their thoughts, feeling and sometimes experiences. Some stories are similar and others are not, these stories are then categorized into different genres to have a universal organization for the many literature pieces we have. I have decided to read and analyze a collection of stories that all fall under the genre of dystopian fiction. By imagining and writing about the extremes of a society, which are dystopian societies in these stories our present society is enabling itself for the actions, it needs to take in the chance of a similar event. Wells. The texts follows the main character “The time traveler” in his journey to prove that time travel is possible. Starting with determination it was quickly turned to desperation by a tragedy close to him, which drives him to want to change the past. “The time traveler” is thrown 800,000 into the future where he discovers that people have been divided into two groups, hunter and the hunted. This text is one of the first dystopian novels; it introduced the prominent aspect of dystopian novels of having a group in power and a group with less power. It was also one of the first books to introduce the idea of time travel and popularize as well as coined the term time travel (Science-Fiction and Fantasy, 2014). The quote in the book “There is no difference between time and any of the 3 dimensions of space expect that our consciousness” (The Time Machine, H.G wells) this is an aspect that not many other books have explored in this time. By being one of the first dystopian fiction novels it meaningful in the sense that it created a possibility for people to express their ideas in a new innovative way. (Andrew Liptak, 2013) This novel also follows the defining features of dystopian novels, which are controlling oppressive government, no free- thinking and appearances of man vs. society often called the dystopian protagonist. The time machine correlates these features in their own unique way. In this novel rather than a controlling oppressive government occurring there is the big separation between two groups. As mentioned before there is the “hunted” and the “hunter” in this novel the hunter acts like controlling and oppressive government as they have the power over the others. Freethinking is also an aspect shown up in this novel in which the society isn’t as open to science. By being controlling about this people don’t have their own opinion on it and it just taken away from them. The
