Literary Elements In Homer's The Odyssey

A man is out at sea for twenty years, facing supernatural monsters, while trying to get home. That is the story of Odysseus, a fictional character in the epic The Odyssey. The novel was written by the famous storyteller Homer. In the story, Homer uses many literary elements.These are very important in aiding the story in coming together and allowing the reader to fully dive into the story and understand it completely. Without these elements the reader is lost and doesn’t really appreciate the story as much as they would if Homer used these features. To really dive into the text of The Odyssey, the reader has to acknowledge the sensory imagery and characterization.
