The Lottery Some traditions may be passed on for many years, but not all traditions are necessary good. Many traditions started in the beginning of time so it became so relevant that it blinded the people of believing certain things are not dangerous.In the short story The Lottery the writer Shirely Jackson created a gothic fictional story to represent the dangers of blindly following traditons. The lottery is about a small town that has a deadly tradition that happens every year. The story speaks about blindly following tradition by using the literary devices of irony, symbolism, characterization and startle factor to make it one gothic fictional story.
