MDG In the short story, “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell, Rainsford is on a boat out in the middle of the sea with his friend Whitney that are going on a hunting trip together. While there out a storm comes and Rainsford is smoking a pipe and it falls out of his hand and he leans over and tries to grab it, but instead they hit a rough patch and ends up and falling in the deep shivering sea. Rainsford struggles to stay afloat, he watches as the boat slowly disappears until he can't see it at all. Rainsford ends up and finding himself on a little island where he meets General Zaroff.
In the short story “The Most Dangerous Game,” the author, Richard Connell uses the wonders of figurative language to spice things up in many ways throughout the story. Almost every page had something lying within itself, hidden behind metaphors similes, personification, and the list goes on. Some examples of how Richard Connell uses figurative language were clearly displayed on page 62: “Didn’t you notice that the crew’s nerves were a bit jumpy today?” This page also began to reveal the main feeling/emotion of the story(eerie/suspicious) came to be-which was set off by the example I used above. There he meets general Zaroff, who challenges him to a man versus man hunt and Rainsford wins. In the story, Connel was trying to show the value of human life. The author was trying to show this because he wanted to show the value of human life, and to show how opinions can change.

In most stories there is only one universal conflict but in the story “The Most Dangerous Game” there is two, man vs. man and man vs. self. The author, Richard Connell, uses this method to change the protagonist’s harsh viewpoints. The protagonist, Rainsford, is a dynamic character. He is a professional hunter and believes animals have no emotions; however, throughout the story his attitude toward the animals he hunts, and hunting changes due to the appalling experience he lives. At first, Rainsford is on a ship on his way to go hunt in the Amazon.
In Richard Connell’s “The Most Dangerous Game,” there is man versus man, nature, and himself for conflict in the story. Man versus man it the most obvious conflict in the short story, it is also the most important. Man versus nature is seen right away on page two as the stories first conflict. Man versus himself is not in the story too much but it dictates what happens throughout the game

Hunters believe animals are not capable of reasoning and they see them as something lesser than humans. Throughout time, these positions can change. The short story, “The Most Dangerous Game” written by Richard Connell, consists of General Zaroff being the hunter and Rainsford being the hunted. During the story, their positions change to the complete opposite.
In the story “The Most Dangerous Game “ by “Richard Connell” is talking about a man named rainsford that has to literally survive for a few days in a place where people are hunted like animals. A survivor is a person who is willing to fight every day in order to stay alive, but then this will mean that he will have to be brave, instinctual, and intelligent. One characteristic of any survivor that i have is Intelligent. A example that was in the story was was when the characters said, “ How in god did you get here” “I swam , I found it quicker than walking the jungle.”
Furthermore, if you underestimate your opponent, you will not perform your personal best. This could result in something very dreadful happening. In the story, one of the main characters, Rainsford felt that it was acceptable to hunt jaguars. In his opinion, “The world is made up of two classes the hunters and the huntees (Connell 216)”. As a result of his wrong opinion, the tables turn in the story and Rainsford becomes the one being hunted.
