Social Issue: Diving right in, my social issue is racial discrimination towards youth which is exemplified in the article. This article showcase the statistics of various ways teens are subjected because of discrimination by government authorities such as age- discrimination. Author’s Comment on Society (Social Issue): Cory Doctorow’s Little Brother exemplifies that government officials whatever status they may be at, should not discriminate youth because of a stereotype or for any other reason without actually, having evidence to prove them guilty. White teens who commit similar crimes are not always caught or given severe punishment in the current world, similar to what Marcus experiences being a white individual. The quote from the database also confirms this fact stating that white youth are much more less likely to get in trouble than black teens. Furthermore, the warning in the novel is reinforced in my connection to the world at large because if the police continue to exploit their power, they will create uneasiness in their citizens.
