Brynlee Endicott Murray Fifth Hour 13 January 2023 Why Lizzie Borden Is Innocent Why would such a kind-hearted person wish to murder their parents? Lizzie Borden was accused of murdering her father and step-mother in Fall River, Massachusetts on August 4th, 1892. Many people believe that Lizzie is guilty. Lizzie is innocent, here is factual evidence: there would have been no time to clean up, previous break-ins happened, no weapon was evident, and she was a good lady. Lizzie couldn’t have killed her parents because there was no time. In Lizzie’s trial, she had mentioned she was slow natured, meaning that she couldn’t perform tasks as quickly as others. Since her father was so cheap, she would have to go downstairs to pump water to clean herself, that would take quite some time. Cleaning herself would lose major evidence. Many things in the house were reported missing. Someone could’ve snuck in and scope out the Borden's home. They could plan out the murder with their scope. Lizzie would never steal from her own house. Lizzie even warned others nearby about the burglary. The break-ins are a major clue for Lizzie’s innocence. In the trial, the police never found an evident weapon. Yes, they found many axes around, but none of them had any traces of blood. They searched long and hard and found nothing. Even though the wounds were most likely from an ax, any other person could own an ax like used for the injuries. No weapon was found with any blood or evidence to make Lizzie guilty. Lizzie’s personality and emotions play a big part in the case. Lizzie was always a kind-hearted person. She taught Sunday school to little children. She was nice to them and even offered candy sometimes. Before the murders, she was worried about her family. She seemed quite sad when she found out her father was deceased.
