Lizzie Borden was born on July 19, 1860 and died June 1, 1927. She was an American woman who was tried and acquitted in 1893 for the axe murders of her stepmother and her father in 1892. She lived in Fall River, Massachusetts with her sister, father and stepmother. Lizzie’s mother Sarah Borden was deceased and died when Lizzie was only 3 years old. Lizzie was born into a wealthy family due to her father manufacturing and selling furniture and caskets, and went on to become a successful property developer. Lizzie and her sister Emma were very religious and attended church, Lizzie also helped out as being a sunday school teacher. Abby Borden was murdered between 9:00 am and 10:30 am. Andrew was murdered between 10:30 am and 11:10 am. What first triggered Lizzie was that she built a roost for the pigeons and her father claimed it attracted children so he killed the pigeons with a hatchet in which angered Lizzie. A family argument stirred in the household causing both sisters to take extended vacations to New Bedford. Lastly, a property situation is what really angered Lizzie. On August 11 she was served a warrant of arrest and jailed. Then the grand jury indicted her to the murders. Lizzie’s trial was located in New Bedford the following June. They didn’t claim the axe was the murder weapon. They did not find any clothing containing blood from the murder. Evidence was excluded that she bought prussic acid, she said it was for cleaning a sealskin cloak. Due to the illness in the Borden house before the murders there stomachs were removed to check for any poison and none was found. The victims heads were removed from the bodys and used during trial and Lizzie fainted and then was buried at the end of the grave after. On June 20 after deliberation, the jury acquitted Lizzie
