After Ruby's mom left her, she surprisingly was able to cope and enjoyed living on her own. Nate, the boy next door, gives her a ride everyday and their relationship starts to blossom. Nate lives with his rich dad who owns a delivery company, he is very attractive, the top swimmer in the school, has a nice car, and a ladies man. When Ruby and Nate's relationship start getting stronger, Ruby discovers that the grass isn't greener on the other side and that Nate's life is very similar to hers. Ruby is now starting to open up to certain things which allows Nate to be able to open up about things that is going on in his life.
