What Life is really like in the colonies Recently, the London Chronicle has declared two statements about what’s happening in the colonies, “Study Shows Farmers Spend Several Hours Playing Cards” and “Unemployment Rises in Cities-Colonists Return to Mother Country”. However, through thorough investigation into the life of the colonists, it’s been brought to attention that these statements may have been inaccurately headlined by the chronicle. The London Chronicle could have easily outwitted and deceived the colonists. But, after much meticulous and intensive research, it is now possible to unearth the reality behind these two articles. That’s not such a smooth and easy job for farmers, especially those who don’t live on large, sufficient farms. As a matter of fact, the great majority of farmers reside in modest one roomed houses with a fireplace donned at one end. This is where the whole family would all cook, eat, and sleep. Furthermore, life on the farm can be incredibly difficult, as there are numerous tasks that need to be completed each and every day. Due to the need of sunlight to complete many of these tasks and chores, farmers will wake up well before first light, ensuring that he takes full advantage of the sun during the course of the day. A typical day for a farming family would start out with the entire family waking up early and evenly dispersing the chores and tasks amongst themselves. Some of these many chores include: making furniture and tools, feeding animals, clearing land, sewing clothes, tending crops, making candles and soap, and cooking. Hence the substantial amount of work needed to be done on the farm, farmers would frequently have to work long hours to ensure that each task is well executed and performed. Moreover, with the extensive workload that it takes to keep a farm running smoothly, many farming families will bear lots of children. Thus, having more kids will give a family the benefit of additional working hands; essentially resulting in greater amounts of work being done around the farm.
