In “Of Mice and Men”, several characters suffer from loneliness because of their backgrounds, race, sex, or just the bias other have towards them. A character who suffers discrimination of her sex and bias from the other men is Curley’s wife. “Why can’t I talk to you? I never get to talk to nobody. I get awful lonely...You can talk to people,but I can’t talk to nobody but Curly.” (p.82) At this point in the story, Lennie has killed his baby pup and is debating over what to do with it.
