Though the cold war did not begin until states and the soviet union had been strained since 1917. During the cold war, the united states and the soviet union did not fight each other directly, it was more of an argument of who had the better stuff. Two major crises of the Cold War involved the German city of Berlin. The war had an impact on american society, and continued until the collapse of the soviet union.
