ESS 102 Hezi Ji 1126594 Science-fiction synopsis In my fiction the concepts will be used are space weather, space habitability, space debris, effect of long-term space flight and the robotic missions. The space weather will be considered as the background of my fiction. My fiction is under the age human beings are already immigrated to a new planet. So the space habitability is very important to make my story more reasonable and logical. In order to immigrate to a new planet, we cannot avoid long time space flight. The research I chose the do is the effect of long-term space flight. Although it’s a science fiction, I cannot just image the story and characters in the story from my mind. Human beings are living in Earth. Putting this sentence in another decipher is that our human body including everything in our body is designed for living in Earth environment. Although this design maybe not perfect, it functions well in Earth and it keeps us alive. Our human body holds and supports us do any activities. But unfortunately the human body has limit, which it cannot function well in space. Space is a totally different environment compared to Earth. Space has no gravity. When we were in Earth, we always image without gravity or less gravity we can walk with very large step and jump farther. But in reality gravity is necessary for holding our cell and muscle together and keeps them stronger. In space there is no air, no oxygen for helping us breathing. No oxygen for helping us doing respiration circulation. Oxygen is the most basic fundament element for us surviving. Space also possesses hostile radiation, which is extremely harmful for our body if we exposure long-term under it. Going to exploring space is not easy, as it seems like to be, there are countless challenges we have to overcome before I can successfully migrate to a new planet. The evidence shows that in the space, the red blood cell changes shape to more spherical. But it returns back after astronauts returning to Earth gravity condition. The immune system also decreases in space. Astronauts are weaker to bacteria and viruses in space. Magically, under microgravity condition, astronauts usually will grow 2 inches higher due to release of our back vertebrate without gravity suppress. The side effect of this is the backache. But astronauts will shrink back also after they in Earth gravity condition. Under microgravity everything is floating, no need for muscle to lifting, working and holding. The muscle will atrophy especially in astronauts’ leg. So in order to maintain strength, the astronauts need to exercise everyday. In the space flight astronauts experience constant noise from the machinery and irregular light pattern, which disturb their work-rest program. That causes fatigue in astronauts. All the symptoms are listed can disappear when astronauts are returning to Earth. But we cannot confirm these body, cell changes under microgravity whether or not will unconsciously affect astronauts physical condition in long-term later. Space is mysterious and also hostile to human beings. The biggest issue challenges scientist in long-term spaceflight is the radiation in space. Without atmosphere for blocking radiations for us, scientists need to figure out how to avoid astronauts exposure
